In a scientific review published in Toxicology Reports, Al-Nashouqati explained that "relying on natural GLP-1 regulators improves patients' quality of life and offers a safer and less expensive alternative to chemical drugs." 

 The team noted that cinnamon, wheat, ginger, brewed green tea, and the plant compound berberine have shown promising efficacy in stimulating this hormone, although research is still in its early stages. Studies have also shown that the timing of meals affects GLP-1 secretion; for example, consuming whey protein before meals reduced blood sugar levels and improved appetite in obese individuals. 

 A study published in August 2025 showed that flavonoids in citrus fruits and hops may help stimulate the satiety hormone, while another review demonstrated that dietary fiber improves insulin sensitivity and blood sugar balance, possibly by increasing the secretion of gut hormones such as GLP-1. The researchers believe these findings pave the way for a new era of natural therapies, where appetite and blood sugar levels can be controlled through diet and meal timing rather than relying on injections and medications.

A report published by the British newspaper, the Daily Mail, revealed a new side effect of the drug, dubbed "Ozempic foot."

According to the newspaper, the commonly used weight-loss drug causes significant sagging of the skin on the feet.

The newspaper quoted doctors as saying they had observed that taking Ozempic led to significant fat loss and water retention, affecting areas such as the soles of the feet, which contain a sensitive layer of subcutaneous fat.

Doctors attribute "Ozempic foot" to the thin skin on the top of the foot, which contains less fat. With the drug, wrinkles and veins become more visible.

A New York Post report cited a photo of TV host Sharon Osbourne, who lost nearly 19 kilograms thanks to Ozempic.

Osbourne appeared in a photo, and her fans noticed large wrinkles on her feet, which they attributed to her taking the medication.

Previous reports have highlighted side effects of Ozempic, such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and fatigue, as well as thyroid cancer, pancreatitis, stomach paralysis, and hearing and vision loss.
