8 Healthier Alternatives to Our Favorite Junk Foods user

User post: 8 Healthier Alternatives to Our Favorite Junk Foods

In case you weren't aware, Tuesday was National Junk Food Day. As if we really needed another excuse to binge on junk food to begin with.

The next time you are feeling the junk food munchie attack, consider these 8 healthier alternatives to the following junk food cravings all of us are susceptible to.

Craving a chocolate candy bar? Have a square of dark chocolate instead. Dark chocolate is said to lower blood pressure and is a potent antioxidant--qualities that are not found in milk chocolate or white chocolate. Plus, a simple, elegant square of dark chocolate lacks the caramel, oily peanuts, toffee bits and other not-so-healthy things that are found in most chocolate candy bars.

Craving ice cream? Have plain yogurt with fruits, honey and nuts on top. Go for non-frozen yogurt because the nutritional difference between ice cream and frozen yogurt isn't very big to begin with. Also, it is highly likely your body is just craving something cold and sweet--so make it extra-refreshing with some generous chunks of real fruit.

Craving chocolate chip cookies? Have granola bars instead. (I suggest a Fiber One bar) Chocolate chip cookies are full of sugar, hydrogenated oil, white flour and other chemicals that do plenty of damage to your nutritional intake. A granola bar, on the other hand, might actually give you some nutrients in addition to dispelling a little of the sweet tooth craving you are having. Make sure the granola bar you choose has no additives or preservatives.

Craving potato chips? Have kale chips, edamame, rice cakes, unsalted pretzels, or low-fat microwave popcorn instead. Maybe you just really want to aimlessly stuff your face with something and it doesn't necessarily have to be a bag of super-oily, super-unhealthy potato chips.

Craving sugary candy? Have dried fruit instead. They are sweet in a natural way that won't make you feel like you're going to wake up with a head full of cavities the next day. Try different dried fruits spiced in different flavors, and you will find that they have a more interesting and satisfying taste palette than a bag of Skittles.

Too Busy, Too Hot, Just More Excuses!

Well yet another Friday has come and gone, and I did not wiegh in.
I haven't been on the tread mill all week, I didn't even walk the dog this week.
It has been so hot here in California, even the dog just lays around! lol.

And, I have had pizza twice this week, and I ate a pint of ice cream last weekend! Yes, a pint, all by myself. But it's okay. Tomorrow is a new day right? As I type this blog entry, I am baking some chicken and we will be having rice and vegetables too. It's supposed to be a little cooler tomorrow, so I will make it a point to get on the tread mill, and I promised the dog I would walk him tonight.

My business is picking up and so my team is growing, which means I am doing a lot of training. So there again is another distraction (excuse) for me not exercising. But nothing interferes with my Leg Magic, I love that machine. Even one of my 10 year old's friend loves my Leg Magic. When he comes over he gets on it and uses it.

Other than those backtracks, I think I'm doing okay. I am still drinking plenty of water, and eating a lot of fruit, a lot of fruit. I wish I could live off fruit!

I went to the grocery store and I was amazed how easy it was for me to pass up the chip aisle, and I didn't even glance at the chocolates they put by the cash register to entice you to see which ones were on sale, ha! So, I know my attitude is changing towards healthier choices and I feel really good about that.

So stay tuned, this week I will be really focused. On August 1st I'm going to a Gumbo Party! And you know I am not holding back! lol So I will be focused on my eating and my workouts. Isn't that a shame, my whole motivation to be good this week, is so I can pig out on Saturday lol! Whatever works right?

Live blessed, not broke!

1 Reason I'm Fat

There are many reasons we gain weight. Some people believe it is hereditary and there's nothing you can do about it. And I really hate those commercials that tell us it's not our fault that we're fat. Most of the reasons, this is just what I believe, that we as people are overweight is we are hiding some type of pain, and trying to drown out that hurt with food. We're unhappy about something and eating feels good, so we do it. Over and over again. For others it's just a wrong ratio of eating to exercise. For me, it's a little of both. I am coming off a very traumatic last 2 years of my life, in which I over ate and did not exercise. But I recognize this and that is why I'm making the steps to lose this 100 pounds. So enjoy this video.

I Almost Ate a Grilled Cheese Sandwich Today!

I wanted to do a video but I just don't have the time. I did good on 4th of July. I didn't eat that much meat, I mostly had the side dishes, you know Macaroni and cheese, and potato salad, and greens. Which are of course are full of fat. But my mother in law cooks so good, I just couldn't resist. I did not have any dessert though, so that was safe.
So, today was really tough for some reason. I was really close to making a grilled cheese sandwich but I thought if I come write this blog, I wouldn't eat it. I ate 2 of my chocolate snacks from Isagenix and drank some water. So far so good. It will be time for dinner in an hour, I think I can make it.

Live blessed, not broke.

I Told You I Was Doing It! 26 Pounds Down Praise God!

I am so happy! So far I have lost 26 pounds. It took me 5 months but oh well. My goal is to lose 50 pounds this year and 50 pounds next year so I'm on track so far. I wanted to lose the weight naturally, just with diet and exercise so according to many things that I read, slow weight loss is safest or healthiest. Have a happy 4th of July. Bless and be blessed, see you in the next video.
